About us
At KOTOBUKI SEATING, we believe public spaces should be safe, enduring, and comfortable for everyone. Since our founding, our guiding philosophy has been to create spaces people can enjoy—prioritizing safety, quality, and comfort. As a leader in public seating, we are committed to meeting the highest standards for durability, strength, and finish.
High-quality seating is essential in shared environments—auditoriums and theatres, where diverse audiences gather; arenas and stadiums, where communities unite through passion; and educational facilities, where ergonomic design supports learning. Comfort and peace of mind are fundamental to the experience of any cultural, educational, or social event.
Founded in 1914, KOTOBUKI SEATING emerged in response to Japan’s early reliance on European imports. Our development of seats for the University of Tokyo and the Imperial Hotel set a benchmark in design, comfort, and durability—defining a philosophy that has carried us from our roots in Japan to becoming a global leader in public seating. Now in its fourth generation, the FUKASAWA family continues to drive innovation and refinement in technical and manufacturing practices.
In the 1950s, we pioneered telescopic grandstands in Japan—maximizing space efficiency in response to rising real estate costs. By the early 1980s, we introduced this flexible system to Europe, where it gained wider adoption in the years that followed. Today, our multipurpose hall systems serve not only cultural venues but also educational institutions, conference centers, and sports facilities. These fully automated solutions combine cutting-edge technology with user-friendly operation—designed for lasting performance and safety.
